Abstract
The program is implemented by the Gerencia Regional de Desarrollo Forestal y de Fauna Silvestre (GRDFS) and is funded by the Gobierno Regional del Departamento de Loreto. The program's main objective is to address the challenges of deforestation and degradation of the Amazonian forests, which are caused by inadequate institutional capacity, poor management of natural resources, and low productivity in the forest sector. The GRDFS has identified the need for additional resources to support the implementation of activities prioritized by the program, including the development of sustainable forest management practices, the promotion of eco-tourism, and the conservation of wildlife habitats. The program's budget for the Año Fiscal 2022 is S/ 2,373,395,952, which is allocated across various sources of financing, including Recursos Ordinarios, Recursos Determinados, and Recursos por Operaciones Oficiales de Crédito. The GRDFS has requested additional resources of S/ 15,376,705 to support the implementation of activities prioritized by the program. The GRDFS has reported that the program has achieved significant progress in the implementation of activities, including the development of sustainable forest management practices, the promotion of eco-tourism, and the conservation of wildlife habitats. The program has also reported an increase in household income among program participants, as well as improvements in food security indicators.
