Abstract
This approach focuses on utilizing natural systems and semi-natural areas to provide resources and services to populations. The "Infraestructura Natural para la seguridad hídrica" (IVSH) project, led by Fernando Momiy, aims to promote the use of infrastructure natural for water security. The project seeks to establish a system where communities near water sources receive incentives to conserve and protect these areas through activities such as forestation, reforestation, and conservation. By channeling income towards these communities, the project aims to improve access to safe water and sanitation, ultimately contributing to their development. The presence of safe water and proper sanitation can significantly reduce gastrointestinal diseases, allowing children to attend school more regularly and improving their nutrition and academic performance. The IVSH project also aims to break the vicious cycle of poverty and illness by promoting economic activities in the community that can lead to improved income and market access. This approach is seen as a more cost-effective alternative to traditional infrastructure development, such as building water treatment plants or constructing reservoirs. One of the key challenges facing the project is the need to develop capacities in communities, local governments, and regional authorities to incorporate infrastructure natural projects into public budgets. Additionally, there is a requirement to develop skills in formulating projects of this type. The project seeks to bridge the gap between communities and water service providers, promoting a mutually beneficial relationship that ultimately benefits the inhabitants of urban centers. The promotion of infrastructure natural projects is a relatively new concept in Peru, with a focus on developing capacities to manage the funds reserved by water service providers. The project aims to make the conservation of water sources without contamination a normal and natural practice, comparable to investing in traditional infrastructure development.
