Abstract
The development of LAMIS has since been optimized to birth its open-source system as LAMISPlus. LAMISPlus has been designed to support both point of care (POC) services and retrospective data entry along the standard health facility workflow and will enable healthcare providers to track patients across the continuum of care, generating data for improving clinical care, and ultimately informing client-centered approaches and enabling cohort analyses and program monitoring. The goal of the LAMISPlus Training of Trainers Handbook is to get participants familiar with the features of the application, provide them with the knowledge on the operationalization of the system, and equip them to transfer the skills to other end users. The training is a step in preparing the stakeholders and end-users to effectively utilize and support LAMISPlus. This document highlights the training deliverables and activities for LAMISPlus training programs to guide and build the capacity of participants. The training targets the Ministry of Health (MOH) through the National HIV/AIDS and STIs Control Programme (NASCOP), implementing users of the system, system administrators, facility managers, health facility staff, and stakeholders. The training will be done in two streams, with Stream 1 comprising monitoring and evaluation/strategic information, data entry clerks, data managers, health providers, pharmacists, laboratory staff, and other users, and Stream 2 composed of system administrators and system developers. The master training consists of a five-day facilitator-led activity, with each session lasting between one and two hours. The training will begin at 9:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. The training approach will include practical learning and will emphasize the key knowledge and skills required for the operationalization of the system. Participants are expected to understand how to set up the LAMISPlus instance for different client users, understand the overall workflow of LAMISPlus, understand how to effectively navigate and use the modules on LAMISPlus, and understand their roles in the overall LAMISPlus system governance. At the end of the training, participants are expected to be able to cascade and build capacity on the implementation and operationalization of LAMISPlus at different levels, utilize all the LAMISPlus modules to capture patient data, advocate the use of a standardized system in the implementation of LAMISPlus, and receive user feedback to improve LAMISPlus. The training is designed to enhance the capacity of the participants to be able to transfer the skills to other end users and effectively utilize and support LAMISPlus.
