Abstract
The program's placement assessment is designed to determine the level of education a student has achieved, with the goal of placing them in the appropriate class. The assessment is administered to students who have completed Grade 3 or higher. The assessment consists of two parts: an oral reading assessment and a written literacy and numeracy test. The oral reading assessment is administered individually to each student, with one assessor per student. The student is given a reading passage and asked to read it aloud, with the assessor recording the student's unique ID on the scoring sheet. The time limit for reading the story is 3 minutes, after which the assessor stops the student. The written literacy and numeracy test is administered to a group of students, with the assessor prompting the students to read each question to themselves and attempt to answer it. The test includes questions on language arts, such as matching words to vowel sounds, circling words that rhyme, and identifying prefixes and suffixes. The test also includes questions on grammar, such as identifying parts of speech and changing sentences into the future tense. The assessment is designed to evaluate a student's reading and writing skills, as well as their understanding of language concepts. The results of the assessment are used to determine the student's placement in the program, with students who perform well being placed in higher-level classes. The program's placement assessment is an important tool for ensuring that students are placed in the appropriate class, based on their level of education. By administering the assessment, the program can identify students who may need additional support or enrichment, and provide them with the necessary resources to succeed. The assessment is administered in a standardized manner, with assessors following a set of instructions to ensure consistency and accuracy. The results of the assessment are recorded on a scoring sheet, which is then used to determine the student's placement in the program. The Accelerated Quality Education for Liberian Children program is a critical component of Liberia's education system, providing students with access to high-quality education and helping to improve education outcomes in the country. The program's placement assessment is an important part of this effort, ensuring that students are placed in the appropriate class and receive the support they need to succeed.
