The Local Scholarship Program (LSP) – Private is a USAID-funded initiative aimed at providing scholarships to students from Egypt to pursue higher education in the United States.

Abstract
The program is implemented by IIE and has been in operation since 2015. As of FY2021, Q3, a total of 207 students have been awarded scholarships, including 12 students with disabilities. The program has three cohorts, with Cohort 1 consisting of 50 graduates, Cohort 2 with 41 students, and Cohort 3 with 64 students. The students are distributed across three host universities: the American University in Cairo (AUC), the Arab Academy for Sciences, Technology, and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), and the British University in Egypt (BUE). The LSP has achieved significant milestones, including the graduation of 50 students from Cohort 1, with six of whom are pursuing a 12-month residency to become licensed nurses. The program has also provided academic and personal support to students, including conversational English sessions, enrichment sessions, and career guidance, as well as internship placements and internship placements certificates. The program has also implemented the Excel and Elevate Training Program (EETP) to enhance the employability of students. The EETP aims to equip students with the necessary skills to secure employment in the Egyptian job market. The program has also implemented the Local Scholarship Program FY2021, Q3 Progress Report, which provides an update on the program's progress and achievements. The report highlights the program's commitment to providing academic and personal support to students, as well as its efforts to enhance the employability of students. The LSP has also implemented various activities, including the Cohort 2 Team Building Retreat, conversational English sessions, and the Excel and Elevate Training Program (EETP). The program has also provided career guidance and career guidance mock interviews to students.
