Abstract
The manual aims to provide a tool for operators of tourism services to implement good practices and improve the quality of their services. The manual is divided into three modules: definitions, department of operations, and operation of tourism programs in high mountain areas. The first module, definitions, provides a list of terms and their meanings related to tourism in high mountain areas. The terms include aclimatación, albergue-refugio-hostal, alimentación, alojamiento rural, alta montaña, batería de baño, bitácora, bota de alta montaña, chivas, cliente, climatología de alta montaña, and código de comunicación. The second module, department of operations, describes the functions and responsibilities of the department of operations in a tourism agency. The department is responsible for coordinating the logistics and operation of tourism programs, and it has various resources at its disposal, including administrative, human, and logistical resources. The third module, operation of tourism programs in high mountain areas, outlines the three stages of the operation of a tourism program in high mountain areas: prior to the operation, during the operation, and after the operation. The prior stage involves planning and preparation, the during stage involves the execution of the program, and the after stage involves the closure of the program and the presentation of results. The manual also includes a list of objectives, which include providing clear and precise information to operators of tourism services, fortifying and consolidating public and private actions in the area of tourism competitiveness, and contributing to the achievement of sustainable development of the tourism activity through the adoption of good practices in tourism operators. The manual is intended to be a concise tool that provides the necessary information for operators of tourism services to implement good practices and improve the quality of their services. It is based on the National Policy of Tourism and the Normative Technical Sectorial Colombian Standards in Tourism, and it is articulated with the national processes of training for tourism service providers led by the National Service of Learning (SENA). The manual includes a list of annexes, which include a plan of action, a plan of contingencies, a request and delivery of materials, a request and delivery of resources, a legalization of the guide, and a legalization of the operation. The manual also includes a bibliography, which provides additional information and resources for those interested in learning more about the topic. Overall, the manual provides a comprehensive guide for operators of tourism services in high mountain areas, outlining the necessary steps and procedures for implementing good practices and improving the quality of their services.
