Abstract
The project began on August 29, 2018, and is set to close on March 31, 2023. Economic conditions of IDPs and host communities have improved, with business recovery opportunities expanded through Output 1.1. This output focused on providing grants to IDPs and host communities to support business recovery, resulting in the establishment of 150 new businesses. Employment opportunities were also expanded through Output 1.2, with 500 IDPs and host community members employed in various sectors. Additionally, livelihood opportunities were expanded through Output 1.3, with 1,000 IDPs and host community members engaged in income-generating activities. Social cohesion of IDPs and host communities has also been strengthened, with social cohesion grants provided to host and displaced communities through Output 2.1. This output aimed to promote social cohesion and community engagement, resulting in the establishment of 20 community solidarity groups. A special initiative was also implemented to address the COVID-19 pandemic, with information, education, and communication (IEC) materials developed and disseminated to reach 100,000 individuals. Capacity-building for COVID-19 vaccination community awareness was also conducted, targeting 500 community leaders. The project has also made significant progress in coordination and partnerships, with closeout events held in Kalilang to mark the project's achievements. MRP champions testified to the project's impact, and panel discussions were held to share best practices and strategies for improving economic conditions and strengthening community cohesion. The project has also collaborated with Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) and the Mindanao Humanitarian Team (MHT) - Lanao Cluster to ensure effective coordination and implementation. In terms of gender, the project has made significant progress in promoting women's empowerment and addressing gender-based violence (GBV). The Women Summit: Stories of Healing, Organizing, Participation, and Empowerment (HOPE) was held, and a study on the perceptions of Muslim religious leaders (MRLs) on GBV was conducted. The project has also implemented measures to ensure environmental compliance and has made progress in operations, including grants delivery and procurement, grants closeout, and project closeout. The project has also made significant progress in monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning (MERL), with studies conducted on settlement preferences of Marawi IDPs in MRP areas and post-intervention assessments of the 2022 MRP risk communications campaign. The project has also developed a project database management system and has produced legacy reports to ensure the sustainability of the project's impact. Implementation challenges have been addressed through best practices and lessons learned, and planned activities for the next quarter have been outlined. The project has also produced success stories, highlighting the impact of the project on the lives of IDPs and host communities.
