Abstract
The program aims to improve the lives of youth in Pathway 2. The program's curriculum includes a module on Foundations of Resilience, which is designed to equip participants with skills to manage their thoughts, feelings, and actions. The module's objectives include identifying connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions, linking the health of one's mind and thoughts to the quality of their lives and relationships, and developing a wellness plan to support themselves. The module's content includes pre- and post-module self-assessments, written tasks, and handouts that cover topics such as establishing privacy and safety ground rules, understanding one's responsibility in respecting privacy, building skills to bring awareness to recognize feelings, and developing an understanding of what is often on one's mind. The module also includes safety guidelines that emphasize respect for each other, the importance of choice, the respect of all feelings, support for emotional reactions, and a sensitive approach to personal histories. The curriculum is designed to be adaptable and participatory, with a focus on empowering youth to take control of their lives and make informed decisions about their well-being. The program's emphasis on resilience, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence is intended to support the development of healthy relationships, improved mental health, and enhanced overall well-being among program participants. The USAID Youth Advance Program's approach to youth development is grounded in a deep understanding of the complex challenges faced by young people in Liberia, including limited access to education, employment, and social services. By providing a comprehensive and supportive environment for youth to develop their skills and capacities, the program aims to contribute to the long-term sustainability and prosperity of Liberia's youth population.
