Abstract
MELA is designed to ensure that USAID's activities in Jordan achieve their intended results through rigorous monitoring, evaluation, and learning. In early March 2024, MELA revealed the upgraded Jordan Knowledge Management Portal (KaMP) to USAID/Jordan's stakeholders. The upgrade was the result of a year-long collaboration between MELA and USAID to enhance KaMP's functionality, appearance, and accessibility. The decision to update KaMP was driven by a collective recognition of the need to streamline information dissemination, foster community engagement, and improve search functionality of centralized resources. The upgraded KaMP boasts a dynamic calendar view, enabling registered users to track and upload events and announcements. This distinct addition ensures stakeholders remain informed and engaged, nurturing a culture of proactive participation and collaboration. Additionally, the upgrade introduced a Community of Practice (COPR) module designed to enable multiple distinct communities. This module provides members with a dedicated platform to converge, share insights, and centralize resources. To raise awareness about the upgrade and enable stakeholders to fully leverage KaMP's potential, MELA conducted several orientation sessions targeting the USAID/Jordan Mission and its Implementing Partners. These sessions shed light on the platform's functionalities and benefits, resulting in more users registering for the platform. Through this initiative, MELA continues to champion a culture of continuous learning and collaboration, empowering stakeholders to harness KaMP's full potential for driving positive change. MELA's efforts are focused on three key results: Local MEL Capacity Improved, MEL Services Provided to USAID Improved, and CLA Practices Strengthened. In the first quarter of FY 2024, MELA made significant progress in each of these areas. Local stakeholders' capacity for contracting USAID MEL activities was enhanced, with LMOs' organizational and MEL institutional capacity improved. MEL capacity of USAID, IPs, GOJ, and MEL stakeholders increased, with a notable improvement in the implementation of evaluations, assessments, and surveys. CLA practices were also strengthened, with a focus on improving the capacity of MEL stakeholders. The Community of Practice (COPR) module was introduced, enabling multiple distinct communities to converge, share insights, and centralize resources. Strategic communication on MEL and gender and inclusion were also enhanced, with a focus on promoting a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. In terms of geographic focus, MELA's efforts are concentrated in Jordan, with a focus on improving the capacity of local stakeholders and implementing partners. The activity is expected to continue through February 2025, with a focus on sustaining the progress made in the first quarter of FY 2024. Overall, MELA's efforts are critical to ensuring that USAID's activities in Jordan achieve their intended results through rigorous monitoring, evaluation, and learning. The upgraded KaMP and the introduction of the COPR module are significant steps towards achieving this goal, and MELA's continued focus on CLA practices and strategic communication will help to drive positive change in Jordan.
