Abstract
Task Order 01, also known as ANT&MEN, consists of two road sector projects: the Anata Main Entrance Road and Internal Roads, and the Al Menya Landfill Road. The project aims to upgrade a total of 2.1 km of the Anata Main Entrance Road and 2.3 km of Internal Roads, as well as 3.6 km of the Al Menya Landfill Road. Construction works for the Anata Road project started on August 4, 2012, with excavation, subgrade preparation, gravity retaining walls, pipe culverts, and basecourse layers for various internal roads. Main road excavation started from station 1+150 to 1+750. Basecourse and asphalt works were also completed for detours 01 and 02. For the Al Menya Landfill Road project, construction works started on August 16, 2012, with excavation and subgrade preparation for roads 02 and 3157, as well as basecourse works for road 02. During the reporting period, one non-urgent concern (NUC) was received and one accident occurred. The NUC was related to an opening and unsupported area on Anata Internal Road 1A, which was filled with single-size aggregates and proper warning and safety signs were installed. The accident occurred on September 26, 2012, when a chain excavator operator damaged an underground electrical cable on Anata Main Road. The cable was repaired within 2 hours. Coordination meetings were held with various stakeholders, including the Bethlehem District Coordination Committee, the Head of Jerusalem Periphery District Coordination Committee, and USAID. Progress meetings were also held to discuss project impediments, challenges, and review progress of work. Site visits were conducted by USAID, JSCSWM, and other stakeholders to follow up on work progress and solve landowners' objections. The project has made significant progress, with 100% completion of survey works and pre-construction submittals for both the Anata and Al Menya roads. Detour works are 85% complete for the Anata Road and 25% complete for the Al Menya Road. Construction works started on August 4, 2012, for the Anata Road and August 16, 2012, for the Al Menya Road, with excavation and subgrade preparation 29% and 12% complete, respectively.
