Abstract
The project aims to improve the transmission of water supply to villages southwest of the Jenin municipality, enhance water storability by constructing new reservoirs, and provide a reliable, safe, and affordable water supply to the project area. The project is part of the USAID Mission Infrastructure Needs Program II (INP II), which focuses on the rehabilitation and construction of roads, schools, water, and wastewater projects to improve Palestinians' access to basic infrastructure and services. The project's objective is to upgrade the existing water supply system, improve water quality, and increase the reliability of the water supply to the project area. The project is being implemented under an Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) with a contract value of USD 12,949,433.37. The contract was awarded on September 22, 2015, and the Notice to Proceed (NTP) was issued on October 26, 2015. The project is scheduled to be completed on February 16, 2017, with a contractual period of performance of 480 calendar days. The project location is in the Jenin Governorate, and the project area includes several villages southwest of the Jenin municipality. The project will benefit approximately 10,000 residents in the project area, providing them with access to a reliable and safe water supply. The project's construction activities began on December 27, 2015, and are ongoing. The project's progress is being monitored and reported on a monthly basis to ensure that the project is being implemented in accordance with the contract requirements and the project schedule. The project's implementation is being carried out by The Morganti Group, Inc., in collaboration with the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) and other stakeholders. The project's construction activities include the upgrade of the existing water supply system, the construction of new reservoirs, and the installation of new water transmission lines. The project's safety and environmental compliance are being ensured through regular monitoring and reporting. The project's safety team is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other relevant regulations. The project's community outreach and engagement activities are being carried out to ensure that the project's benefits are shared equitably among all stakeholders. The project's gender action plan is also being implemented to ensure that the project's benefits are accessible to all members of the community, regardless of their gender. The project's progress is being monitored and reported on a monthly basis to ensure that the project is being implemented in accordance with the contract requirements and the project schedule. The project's next reporting period will cover the activities carried out during January 2016.
