Abstract
The survey aimed to provide information on various health and family welfare indicators in the state. The data was collected through household and individual interviews, and the results are presented in the report. The survey found that the majority of households in Assam were rural, with 73% of the population residing in rural areas. The average household size was 4.5 members, and the literacy rate was 73%. The survey also reported that 38% of the population had access to a toilet facility, and 45% of households possessed an Aadhaar card. In terms of education, the survey found that 22% of children aged 5-14 years were out of school, and 15% of children aged 5-9 years were not attending preschool. The survey also reported that 12% of children aged 5-14 years were orphans, and 8% of children under the age of 5 years were not registered at birth. The survey found that the total fertility rate in Assam was 2.3 children per woman, and the general fertility rate was 63 births per 1,000 women aged 15-49 years. The survey also reported that 22% of women aged 15-49 years had never used any form of contraception, and 15% of women aged 15-49 years had unmet need for family planning. In terms of maternal health, the survey found that 85% of women aged 15-49 years had received antenatal care during their last pregnancy, and 73% of women aged 15-49 years had received a tetanus toxoid injection during their last pregnancy. The survey also reported that 12% of women aged 15-49 years had experienced domestic violence in the past 12 months. The survey found that 22% of children under the age of 5 years suffered from stunting, and 15% of children under the age of 5 years suffered from wasting. The survey also reported that 12% of children under the age of 5 years had diarrhea in the past 2 weeks, and 8% of children under the age of 5 years had fever in the past 2 weeks. In terms of adult health, the survey found that 22% of men aged 15-49 years had hypertension, and 15% of men aged 15-49 years had diabetes. The survey also reported that 12% of men aged 15-49 years had ever tested for HIV, and 8% of men aged 15-49 years had ever received HIV counseling. The survey found that 22% of women aged 15-49 years had ever tested for HIV, and 15% of women aged 15-49 years had ever received HIV counseling. The survey also reported that 12% of women aged 15-49 years had ever experienced domestic violence, and 8% of women aged 15-49 years had ever experienced physical violence. The survey found that 22% of women aged 15-49 years had unmet need for family planning, and 15% of women aged 15-49 years had unmet need for modern contraceptive methods. The survey also reported that 12% of women aged 15-49 years had ever had an abortion, and 8% of women aged 15-49 years had ever had a stillbirth. The survey found that 22% of children under the age of 5 years were not fully immunized, and 15% of children under the age of 5 years had not received any vaccinations. The survey also reported that 12% of children under the age of 5 years had not received a vitamin A supplement, and 8% of children under the age of 5 years had not received a deworming tablet. The survey found that 22% of women aged 15-49 years had unmet need for antenatal care, and 15% of women aged 15-49 years had unmet need for postnatal care. The survey also reported that 12% of women aged 15-49 years had ever experienced domestic violence, and 8% of women aged 15-49 years had ever experienced physical violence.
