Abstract
The toolkit is made possible by the generous support of the American people through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) under the terms of its requisition number REQ-EGEE-18-000127 (Measuring Impact II). The toolkit is intended to support the pause and reflect process, which is a component of learning and adaptive management. This process involves taking time to think critically about ongoing activities and processes and planning for the best way forward. The toolkit provides options for pause and reflect activities, including templates and example materials, facilitation guidance, and a design worksheet to help teams choose the correct option for their audience. The toolkit includes several key components, including the Pause and Reflect Design Worksheet, the Adaptive Management Workbook, the Good Practices Guide, the Workshop Prep Checklist, the Team Charter, and the Agendas folder. The Pause and Reflect Design Worksheet helps teams build the ideal pause and reflect process for their context, while the Adaptive Management Workbook supports teams throughout the adaptive management cycle. The Good Practices Guide provides guidance on key elements of an annual pause and reflect process, and the Workshop Prep Checklist helps teams track completion of tasks related to planning and scoping, logistics, and delivery of workshops. The Team Charter is an important step in creating a successful pause and reflect, as it helps teams clarify roles and responsibilities, timelines, and other factors. The Agendas folder provides annotated examples of agendas for various types of pause and reflect experiences, which can be used as a starting point for building a team's own agenda. The toolkit is designed to be flexible and adaptable to different contexts and needs. Teams can use the toolkit to support their pause and reflect processes, and to learn from their experiences and adapt accordingly. The toolkit is available for download and can be accessed through the Environmental Incentives, LLC website. The pause and reflect process is an essential component of learning and adaptive management, and the toolkit provides a range of resources to support this process. By using the toolkit, teams can improve their ability to learn from their experiences, adapt to changing circumstances, and achieve their goals in biodiversity conservation.
