Abstract
The law defines the mission and responsibilities of the ONIC, which is to promote the profession of nursing in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The ONIC is composed of various organs, including the Assemblée Générale, the Conseil National, the Conseil Provincial, the Conseil Urbain, the Conseil Territorial, and the Conseil Cellulaire. The ONIC has a strategic plan for 2019-2023, which aims to address the main problems facing the nursing profession in the country. The plan is divided into six axes: inscription des Infirmiers au tableau de l'ordre, qualité et humanisation des soins Infirmiers, gouvernance et gestion des ressources, partenariat, réseautage, information et communication, genre et participation, and formation, recherche et développement. The plan identifies several challenges facing the nursing profession in the Democratic Republic of Congo, including the need to improve the quality of nursing care, increase the number of nurses registered with the ONIC, and enhance the governance and management of resources. The plan also aims to promote partnerships and networking among stakeholders, improve communication and information sharing, and address issues related to gender and participation. The ONIC has received financial and technical support from various partners, including the USAID, MCSP, and CUSO International. The plan is expected to contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals (ODD) by 2030, particularly the goal related to "good health and well-being" (ODD 3). The ONIC has a strong presence in the country, with a national office in Kinshasa and provincial offices in 26 provinces. The organization has a range of activities and programs aimed at promoting the nursing profession and improving the quality of nursing care. The plan includes a budget for 2019-2023, which allocates resources to each of the six axes.
