Abstract
The workshop aimed to equip participants with the skills to incorporate analytical tools to examine conflict and violence dynamics and the interactions with USAID assistance, apply the Do No Harm framework to identify unintended consequences of programming, and apply conflict sensitivity across the Program Cycle to improve development outcomes in countries affected by violence and conflict. The workshop had a small but experienced cohort of 12 participants, including the Director of C, a U.S. Fellow, a Senior Conflict and Peacebuilding Advisor, and a Senior Transition Advisor from the Office of Transition Initiatives (OTI). The majority of participants were based in Washington and work in conflict and peacebuilding, with a focus on conflict and stability. The workshop was successful, with all technical workshop evaluation respondents (n=10, 100%) agreeing or strongly agreeing that they were satisfied with the sessions and would recommend the course to others. End-of-course evaluation respondents (n=6, 100%) also agreed or strongly agreed that they saw specific ways to apply what they learned in the job, felt confident applying the learned skills, and were committed to doing so. The workshop used a variety of methods to engage participants, including facilitator feedback, input from producers, and producer feedback, which indicated that the delivery was successful. The facilitators noted that the diverse experiences of the cohort led to engaging conversations and meaningful conversations, and that the small group size allowed for more individualization. The team also had suggestions for future deliveries, including identifying SMEs for each delivery, considering options for encouraging diverse course cohorts, and using video footage to bring additional voices and experiences to the course. The team recommended redesigning the course to uncouple the e-learning and three-day technical workshop from the final vILT and making the action learning a separate course that participants can complete on their own schedule. The workshop had a high level of participant engagement, with 100% of respondents agreeing or strongly agreeing that they were satisfied with the facilitators' knowledge of the subject matter, effectiveness in engaging participants, and effectiveness in responding to participant comments. The workshop also had a high level of participant satisfaction, with 100% of respondents agreeing or strongly agreeing that they saw specific ways to apply what they learned in the job, felt confident applying the learned skills, and were committed to doing so. The workshop had a high level of participant engagement, with 100% of respondents agreeing or strongly agreeing that they were satisfied with the facilitators' knowledge
