Abstract
The campaign aimed to improve the electoral process through citizen participation in developing public agendas. CIMIENTOS sought to increase voter confidence and government legitimacy by empowering constituents to express their needs and priorities. The campaign involved allowing voters to express their needs for the development of public agendas in the region. These agendas were broadcast on public radio to over 100,000 listeners, publicizing citizens' concerns and promoting citizen participation in the development of ideas and priorities. The goal was to shape the agendas of elected officials and their period in office, promoting public discussion and debates regarding the needs of the community. The campaign's success was evident in the increased citizen participation and confidence in the electoral process. Citizens built confidence in the electoral process and improved their perception of their voice being heard and respected. CIMIENTOS facilitated greater participation, confidence, and ownership in the Congressional and Presidential electoral process. The campaign's impact was particularly notable in the municipality of Valledupar, where citizens cast their votes with increased confidence and awareness of their role in shaping the electoral process. The "Your Vote Counts" campaign demonstrated the effectiveness of citizen participation in promoting voter turnout and building political culture in the La Sierra Nevada region. CIMIENTOS' efforts to promote voter turnout and build political culture in the region were successful in improving the electoral process and increasing citizen participation. The campaign's focus on empowering constituents to express their needs and priorities helped to build confidence in the electoral process and promote a sense of ownership among citizens. As a result, the region experienced increased voter turnout and a more engaged citizenry.
