Abstract
The program aims to reduce domestic violence and related human rights abuses in six districts, including Barguna, Bogra, Chittagong, Dinajpur, Jessore, and Sylhet. The program is designed to achieve five Intermediate Results (IR) and is implemented in partnership with the Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers' Association (BNWLA) and 11 sub-grantees. The program focuses on five major components: advocacy for law reform and enforcement, capacity building of stakeholders, increasing access to justice for survivors of human rights abuses, providing survivor services, and building mass awareness and implementing educational campaigns on domestic violence and other human rights abuses. Key legislation and policies are being enforced to reduce domestic violence, including the Domestic Violence Act, 2010. The program also aims to increase the use of formal and informal justice systems by survivors of human rights abuses. Capacity building is being provided to stakeholders, including law enforcement officials, police, and community leaders, to enhance their understanding of human rights and domestic violence. The program is also providing survivor services, including counseling, medical care, and economic support, to survivors of domestic violence and other human rights abuses. Mass awareness and educational campaigns are being implemented to raise awareness about domestic violence and other human rights abuses, including child marriage, trafficking-in-persons, stalking, rape, and child abduction. The program is being implemented in 102 unions and five upazilas, with a focus on reducing domestic violence and related human rights abuses. The program is also working to develop linkages between local and national government representatives, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders to promote preventive and protective measures.
