Abstract
The project focuses on enhancing growth through regional agricultural input systems, with a specific emphasis on fertilizer use and management. The project's overall goal is to increase the availability and accessibility of fertilizers to smallholder farmers, thereby improving crop yields and reducing poverty. The project's approach involves several key interventions, including the development and dissemination of improved fertilizer formulas, the promotion of environmentally sound fertilizer products and technologies, and the improvement of fertilizer policy and regulatory environments. The project also places a strong emphasis on cross-cutting activities, such as gender and youth engagement, as well as communication and stakeholder engagement. One of the key achievements of the project during the April-June 2023 quarter was the development and dissemination of improved fertilizer formulas. According to Table 2, the project achieved a 90% level of implementation for this activity, with a total of 15 fertilizer formulas developed and made available to farmers. The project also reported a 25% increase in the adoption of fertilizer products and technologies for targeted crops, as shown in Table 4. The project's efforts to improve fertilizer policy and regulatory environments also yielded positive results. According to Table 8, the project achieved a 100% level of implementation for the regulation of fertilizer quality control, with the relevant regulations implemented and enforced. The project also reported a 50% increase in the private sector-driven supply and distribution of fertilizer products, as shown in Table 7. In terms of cross-cutting activities, the project reported a 30% increase in the participation of women in project activities, as shown in Table 10. The project also reported a 20% increase in the participation of youth in project activities, as shown in Table 11. The project's management and coordination efforts were also highlighted during the quarter. According to the project's management and general coordination section, the project's team worked closely with local implementing partners and stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of project activities. Overall, the Feed the Future Senegal Dundël Suuf Project made significant progress during the April-June 2023 quarter, with notable achievements in the development and dissemination of improved fertilizer formulas, the promotion of environmentally sound fertilizer products and technologies, and the improvement of fertilizer policy and regulatory environments. The project's cross-cutting activities also showed positive results, with increased participation of women and youth in project activities.
