Abstract
The project aims to reduce urban disaster risk in the neighborhoods of Sector Ulloa, specifically Col. Jose Arturo Duarte, Col. Jose Angel Ulloa, and Col. Nueva Providencia. The project has been ongoing since September 2013, with the current reporting period covering January 1 to March 23, 2018. This is the last quarterly report of the project, with the final report to be submitted to OFDA on June 23, 2018. The project has been implemented in collaboration with the Municipality of the Distrito Central (AMDC) and other local stakeholders. In Sector 1, Shelter and Settlements, the project has made significant progress in implementing disaster risk reduction (DRR) measures. The construction company has constructed 31 out of 35 targeted homes, representing 89% of family relocation. Additionally, improvements have been made to 84 homes, representing 41% of homes improved. The project has also completed the reproduction of the neighborhood configuration manual and held a workshop for the official handover of the manual to the AMDC and participating institutions. In Sector 2, Economic Recovery and Market Systems, the project has focused on new livelihoods development. The progress to date is 42% since the indicator was underachieved. During the DRR assessment, 21 grocery stores were prioritized, leading to funding proposals for the repairs of 5 grocery stores to protect their assets. The project has also completed the direct assistance of 25 critical market actors, representing 100% of the target. In Sector 3, Natural and Technological Risks, the project has focused on geological hazards. The project has completed the recovery of vacant lots, where social gathering spaces, parks, and reforestation activities have been developed. The Early Warning and Response System for landslide enhanced has been operational since the 16th quarter. The project has also completed the training of 1792 people to reduce the impact of geological events, representing 1706% of the target. In Sector 4, Risk Management Policy and Practice, the project has focused on building community awareness and mobilization. The project has completed the training of 2125 people, representing 100% of the target. The project has also completed the development of a work schedule to carry out the analysis of the basin, involving a core technical team of 10 technicians. The project has made significant progress in reducing urban disaster risk in the neighborhoods of Sector Ulloa. The project has implemented DRR measures, improved market infrastructure, and trained people to reduce the impact of geological events. The project has also completed the development of a work schedule to carry out the analysis of the basin and trained people to build community awareness and mobilization. The project has achieved 100% of the targets in several indicators, demonstrating its effectiveness in reducing urban disaster risk.
