Abstract
IGESPLAM is an animation tool designed for technicians who want to involve farmers in the elaboration of their cultural calendars, conduct a diagnosis of past activities, and evaluate technical and economic results to draw lessons for the future. The IGESPLAM method aims to address the issue of overproduction of the same types of vegetables at the same time, which leads to a surplus of the same products on markets. This situation is detrimental to producers and makes it difficult for them to benefit from their production throughout the year. To address this issue, REGIS-ER has developed a new tool called IGESPLAM, which was created in Senegal and is designed to be used by gardeners. The IGESPLAM method is based on several key principles, including the selection of suitable crop varieties and species for each season, the rotation of crops, and the planning of production to avoid overproduction. The method also emphasizes the importance of market analysis and the development of a business plan to ensure the economic viability of the garden. The IGESPLAM method is composed of several modules, including the planning of cultural activities, the analysis of market trends, and the development of a business plan. The method also includes tools for monitoring and evaluating the performance of the garden, such as the use of indicators and the collection of data on prices and sales. The REGIS-ER project has organized a training program for trainers on the IGESPLAM method, which took place from February 23 to 28, 2015, in Balléyara. The training program aimed to establish a network of trainers and animators of the IGESPLAM method, who will be responsible for training gardeners and farmers in the use of the method. The training program was attended by several participants, including trainers, consultants, and staff from REGIS-ER. The program included a series of modules and exercises, which aimed to equip the participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to train gardeners and farmers in the use of the IGESPLAM method. The IGESPLAM method has several benefits, including the improvement of crop yields, the reduction of production costs, and the increase of income for gardeners and farmers. The method also helps to promote sustainable agriculture practices and to reduce the environmental impact of agricultural activities. The REGIS-ER project has established a network of trainers and animators of the IGESPLAM method, who will be responsible for training gardeners and farmers in the use of the method. The project has also developed a series of tools and resources, including a manual, a training program, and a set of indicators, which will be used to monitor and evaluate the performance of the garden. The IGESPLAM method is a valuable tool for gardeners and farmers, who want to improve their production and increase their income. The method is also a useful tool for policymakers and development agencies, who want to promote sustainable agriculture practices and reduce the environmental impact of agricultural activities. The REGIS-ER project has made significant progress in the implementation of the IGESPLAM method, including the training of trainers and the establishment of a network of trainers and animators. The project has also developed a series of tools and resources, which will be used to monitor and evaluate the performance of the garden. The IGESPLAM method has several applications, including the improvement of crop yields, the reduction of production costs, and the increase of income for gardeners and farmers. The method can also be used to promote sustainable agriculture practices and reduce the environmental impact of agricultural activities.
