Abstract
The ONIC aims to promote the development of the nursing profession and its members. The organization has been in existence for over two years, having inherited the legacy of the Association Nationale des Infirmiers du Congo (ANIC). The ONIC has embarked on a Developmental Organizational process with the technical and financial support of Cuso International and MCSP/USAID. This process involves a diagnostic organizational report, which has been validated by the representatives of the National Council and their counterparts in the provincial councils of Kinshasa, Bas-Congo, and Kasaï Oriental, as well as partners. The report reveals the strengths and weaknesses of the ONIC, as well as the opportunities and threats presented by the environment in which it operates. The ONIC encourages its members to appropriate this document in order to contribute to its development, make it more effective in achieving its mission, and value its members more. The ONIC has identified several key areas for improvement, including the development of a vision and strategy, the improvement of policies and practices through the National Council, and the management of resources, including human resources, finances, and information technology. The report also highlights the importance of partnership and networking, as well as the need to address issues related to gender and participation. The ONIC has identified several strategic axes, including humanization of care, governance, resource management, partnership and networking, gender and participation, information and communication, and training and research. The ONIC has also emphasized the need for the government and partners to facilitate the implementation of the strategic plan that will follow from this diagnostic organizational report. The ONIC counts on the contributions of all stakeholders to achieve its goals at the national and international levels. The ONIC has a strong commitment to its members and the nursing profession, and it is working to develop a code of deontology and a regulation of internal order. The organization is also working to establish a network of nurses across the country and to promote the development of the nursing profession. The ONIC has a clear vision for its future, which includes becoming a leading professional organization in the region. The organization is committed to working with its members, partners, and stakeholders to achieve its goals and to promote the development of the nursing profession. The ONIC has a strong focus on capacity building and development, and it is working to strengthen its organizational capacity through the Developmental Organizational process. The organization is also working to improve its governance and management practices, including the management of resources, human resources, and information technology. The ONIC has a clear understanding of the challenges it faces, including the need to improve its policies and practices, manage its resources more effectively, and promote the development of the nursing profession. The organization is committed to working with its members, partners, and stakeholders to address these challenges and to achieve its goals.
