Abstract
The elections resulted in the formation of the 2014-2018 Congress, with 166 members elected to the Senate and 166 members elected to the Chamber of Representatives. The main parties that secured seats in the Congress were the Partido de la U, the Partido Liberal Colombiano, the Partido Conservador Colombiano, and the Partido Alternativo Social Indígena. The elections saw a significant increase in the number of votes cast for the Partido de la U, which secured 28.4% of the total votes, followed by the Partido Liberal Colombiano with 23.6% of the votes. The Partido Conservador Colombiano secured 14.1% of the votes, while the Partido Alternativo Social Indígena secured 4.6% of the votes. The elections also saw a significant increase in the number of women elected to the Congress, with 44 women elected to the Senate and 44 women elected to the Chamber of Representatives.
