Abstract
The program is sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by DAI Global, LLC. The program period of performance is from April 24, 2018, to April 23, 2023. The program is divided into three components: Component 1 aims to expand the capacity of financial institutions (FIs) and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) to finance SMEs and agribusinesses. Component 2 focuses on increasing private and commercial investment into SMEs and agribusinesses. Component 3 seeks to strengthen the policy environment for SMEs and agribusinesses to increase their business performance and profitability. In the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2023 (October 1 - December 31, 2022), Component 1 achieved several milestones, including the completion of a financial institution assessment and the development of a training program for FIs and NBFIs. Component 2 achieved a milestone in the establishment of a private sector investment platform, which aims to mobilize private sector investment into SMEs and agribusinesses. Component 3 achieved a milestone in the development of a policy brief on entrepreneurship development, which aims to inform policy decisions on entrepreneurship development in Rwanda. The program also implemented several technical activities, including the development of a financial market systems approach and the establishment of a project management information system. The program also conducted several cross-cutting activities, including collaboration with stakeholders, learning and adaptation, and communication. The program's monitoring and evaluation framework is designed to track progress against the program's objectives and to identify areas for improvement. The program's learning activities include conducting research and analysis to identify best practices and to develop new approaches to addressing market systems challenges. The program's communications activities include disseminating information to stakeholders through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and reports. The program's environmental compliance activities include ensuring that the program's activities are environmentally sustainable and do not harm the environment.
