Abstract
The program is sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is implemented by DAI Global, LLC. The program's goal is to increase private and commercial investment in SMEs and agribusinesses, as well as to strengthen the policy environment for these sectors. The program is divided into three components: Component 1 focuses on expanding the capacity of financial institutions (FIs) and non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs) to finance SMEs and agribusinesses. Component 2 aims to increase private capital investment for SMEs and agribusinesses, while Component 3 seeks to strengthen the policy environment for SMEs and agribusinesses to increase their business performance and profitability. In the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2021, significant progress was made in all three components. Component 1 achieved several milestones, including the launch of a new breeder farm by easyHATCH, a Nguriza Nshore SME. The farm was established as a result of an investment deal. Component 2 also made notable progress, with the implementation of activities aimed at increasing private capital investment for SMEs and agribusinesses. Component 3 focused on strengthening the policy environment for SMEs and agribusinesses, with a particular emphasis on entrepreneurship development policy. The program also placed a strong emphasis on cross-cutting themes, including monitoring, evaluation, and learning, as well as collaborating, learning, and adapting. The program's communications strategy was also implemented, with a focus on sharing success stories and best practices with stakeholders. In terms of financial performance, the program's financial summary indicates that significant progress was made in the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2021. The program's grants management and staffing activities were also implemented, with a focus on ensuring the effective management of program resources. Overall, the Rwanda Nguriza Nshore program is making significant progress in its efforts to improve the financial market systems in Rwanda and support the growth of SMEs and agribusinesses. The program's focus on strengthening the policy environment, increasing private capital investment, and expanding the capacity of FIs and NBFIs is expected to have a positive impact on the country's economic development.
