Abstract
The project was funded by USAID and operated from September 27, 2005, to September 30, 2014, with a total value of $8,802,623. During the reporting period of April 1, 2012, to June 30, 2012, the project made significant progress in achieving its objectives. In terms of ITTP students, 3 classes of 68 students (26 female) started training at VLU, and 3 classes of 80 students (23 female) started training at ESTIH. Additionally, VLU started 1 TOT VI course for 17 students (7 female), and ESTIH split one training class into two, one for AED and one Web Design. The project also made progress in implementing extracurricular activities to improve students' social and communication skills. Practicum centers at VLU and ESTIH helped students gain real-world experience. Furthermore, the project launched ITTP at Da Nang, recruited students in Da Nang, and continued technical and soft skill training. In terms of MOET policy makers, the project worked with the MOET steering committee leaders and secretariat members on detailed planning of project activities relating to developing ICT tools and piloting in the school system. CRS organized a consultative meeting with MOET steering committee with the facilitation of Vice Minister Nguyen Vinh Hien and 12 other leaders and staff from different MOET departments. The project also made progress in developing and identifying effective assistive technologies that remove barriers for secondary and higher education for students with disabilities. Although no target was set for FY2012, the project evaluated existing technologies, drafted standards, and collected IE resources to be put online. In terms of output 1.1.1, ITTP was established in Da Nang, and Dong A University was selected. However, UDA has not yet obtained approval to work with CRS on this project. The project organized an exchange trip for 5 UDA staff to visit and obtain all necessary permissions of GoV to allow project activities to start in Da Nang. The project also made progress in output 1.1.2, where VLU is in discussion with NAC real estate to organize a course for training property management staff. A few businesses at Da Nang consultation workshop expressed interest to co-design training courses in the future. Additionally, VLU recruited 22 (11 female) new long-term training students, and UDA will recruit 50 students. In terms of output 1.1.3, the project aimed to increase peer-support among ITTP graduates and current students. Although no target was set for FY2012, the project conducted soft skill assessments and provided peer-support for ITTP students and graduates. Overall, the project made significant progress in achieving its objectives during the reporting period. However, some challenges and delays were encountered, particularly in getting project approvals. Despite these challenges, the project continued to make progress in implementing its activities and achieving its objectives.
