Abstract
The program aims to address the humanitarian situation and vulnerability conditions in Maiduguri Metropolitan City (MMC) and Jere. Save the Children, in consortium with Family Health International (FHI 360), Green Concern for Development (GreenCode), and Ekklesiyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria (EYN), implement a holistic humanitarian response composed of food assistance, cash, nutrition, health, protection, shelter, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). The program achieved significant results in food assistance, with 29,734 households receiving unconditional food assistance, benefiting 191,587 individuals. The voucher redemption rate was 99%. Additionally, the program supported 5,974 households with micro-enterprise and vocational skills training, and provided start-up capital to 5,974 households, benefiting 34,518 individuals. Furthermore, the program distributed Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) kits to 149 groups across 19 communities, supporting household resilience and asset development by expanding access to financial services. The program also provided multipurpose cash assistance (MPCA) to 1,668 households, benefiting 11,814 individuals, including new arrivals internally displaced persons (IDPs). The program's overall goal is to improve the well-being and resilience of conflict-affected vulnerable populations in Greater Maiduguri, Nigeria. The humanitarian situation in Borno continues to deteriorate, with over 1.6 million IDPs living with limited sources of livelihood and struggling to meet basic needs. The program's integrated approach aims to address the complex needs of the affected population, providing a comprehensive response to the humanitarian crisis. The program's implementation is ongoing, with a focus on achieving the following objectives: improving food security, enhancing household resilience, and promoting the well-being of conflict-affected vulnerable populations. The program's success is measured through the achievement of specific indicators, including the number of households receiving food assistance, the number of individuals benefiting from cash assistance, and the number of households participating in VSLA programs. The program's coordination and partnership with government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), as well as other humanitarian organizations, are critical to its success. The program's risk management strategy is also in place to mitigate potential risks and ensure the effective implementation of the program.
