Abstract
The regulations classify infectious substances, including avian influenza samples, as Class 6.2. This classification is critical for ensuring safe transportation of these substances. To comply with IATA DGR, personnel responsible for preparing and packaging infectious substances must undergo training. The training program focuses on IATA regulations applicable to the shipment of infectious substances by international air. Participants learn to describe relevant regulations and classifications, explain IATA regulations, and demonstrate the ability to apply these regulations for classifying, documenting, packing, and labeling infectious substances. The training program emphasizes the importance of safety procedures, including emergency response in the event of an accident involving a shipment of an infectious substance. IATA DGR require that training include general familiarization with provisions, function-specific training, and safety training for handling dangerous goods and responding to accidents or emergencies. The training is designed to qualify personnel as Shippers of Infectious Substances, specifically for shipping avian influenza samples. However, it is essential to note that this training does not cover other types of dangerous goods. To maintain qualification, Shippers must renew their training every 24 months. Additionally, trainees must pass a final written exam with a score of 85% or higher to receive a record of successful training completion. The logistics of shipping avian influenza samples by international air involve compliance with IATA DGR regulations. This includes proper packaging, labeling, and documentation to ensure safe transportation of these substances. The regulations also specify requirements for emergency procedures in the event of an accident involving a shipment of an infectious substance.
