Site Visit Report: Faizabad Municipality Latrines Construction

The project includes the construction of an eight-cabin latrine, with four cabins for men and four cabins for women, as well as a 60 cubic meter septic tank, a 6000 liter capacity water tank with a six meter tall steel water tower, and a generator cabin with a 5 KVA capacity generator. The project is funded by USAID/RUMP UP-East. The project's goal is to improve sanitation and environment in the market area of Faizabad City. The construction work for the project was inspected and evaluated by two engineers from Tetra Tech, Afghanistan Engineering Support Program, on November 6, 2013. The inspectors were accompanied by a site civil engineer from Development Alternative Inc (DAI) during the site inspection and evaluation. The site visit revealed that all required activities have been completed by the contractor. The construction of the latrine building with all required accessories is complete, as are the supply and installation of electrical fixtures and the provision of a 5 KVA generator, a power source for the submersible water pump. The construction of the generator room, drilling of an 80 meter deep water well with PVC casing and installation of a 1.5 inch submersible water pump, supply and installation of a 6000 liters capacity overhead water tank with all support frames and reinforced concrete foundation ring, and construction of a 60 cubic meters capacity septic tank are also complete. Based on the site visit and evaluation, Tetra Tech has determined that the construction work for the Faizabad Municipality Latrines Project is complete. The overall quality of the work is acceptable and is in compliance with the provided drawings. The project is currently in service condition, providing improved sanitation and environment in the market area of Faizabad City. The project's construction includes the installation of a sign board, front and back views of the latrine building, main doors for the female and male latrines, interior views of a cabin latrine, installed light fixtures, installed doors for the male cabins latrine, interior view of the main hall, sinks in the female latrine main hall, a wooden cabinet in the male latrine main hall, a constructed generator room, a junction box and water pump switch, a 5 KVA generator, a water well, an overhead water tank, and an underground septic tank.
