Abstract
The report highlights major challenges and potential solutions in the provinces of Ghazni, Khost, Logar, Maydan Wardak, and Paktya. Initial assessments in Ghazni Province identified major challenges, including insecurity, lack of infrastructure, and limited access to basic services. Potential solutions include implementing community-based initiatives, improving security, and enhancing infrastructure development. Implementation and training trackers indicate progress in these areas, with over 2,500 community members participating in training programs. In Ghazni Province, significant provincial activities took place in Andar, Dih Yak, Jaghatu, Khwaja Umari, and Qarabagh districts. Community Development Councils (CDCs) and District Development Assemblies (DDAs) were established to promote community-led development. The Ghazni Provincial Management Unit (PMU) played a key role in coordinating these efforts. In Khost Province, major challenges included insecurity, limited access to basic services, and a lack of infrastructure. Significant provincial activities took place in Chaki Wardak, Jalriz, Nirkh, and Saydabad districts, with a focus on establishing CDCs and DDAs. In Paktya Province, major challenges included insecurity, limited access to basic services, and a lack of infrastructure. Potential solutions included implementing community-based initiatives, improving security, and enhancing infrastructure development. Significant provincial activities took place in Laja Ahmad Khail, Laja Mangal, Zadran, and Zurmat districts, with a focus on establishing CDCs and DDAs. Kabul-based and combined activities included workshops and trainings, institutional strengthening and stabilization, engineering support, grants and sub-contracts, monitoring and evaluation, security, operations, and human resources. The report highlights the importance of these activities in supporting the implementation of SIKA-East initiatives. Overall, the report highlights the progress made in implementing SIKA-East initiatives in the provinces of Ghazni, Khost, Logar, Maydan Wardak, and Paktya. The report also identifies areas for improvement and provides recommendations for future action.
