Abstract
The program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and is being carried out by AECOM International Development. The program focuses on four key areas: stability analysis, access to GIRoA services, communication and outreach, and government services and development projects. The stability analysis component involves conducting stability workshops for each approved district, providing technical assistance to district entities, and facilitating inter-district meetings to exchange information and best practices. The access to GIRoA services component aims to improve the capacity of provincial line directorates to collect, manage, and report information about projects and services. This is achieved through training and assistance to provincial and district entities, as well as the establishment of productive relations between line directorates and district entities. The communication and outreach component involves collecting existing population and demographic research, identifying communications management needs, and developing communication strategies to support the program teams. This component also includes conducting rolling communication and outreach training activities for provincial and district entities. The government services and development projects component focuses on submitting grants manuals and activity flow charts for USAID, conducting initial development research and assessments in communities and districts, and working with district entities to identify development projects. This component also involves providing capacity building and technical assistance to help district entities prepare grant application packages for priority projects. The program has made significant progress in its first few months, with notable achievements in stability analysis, access to GIRoA services, and communication and outreach. The program has also established a project pipeline, which includes a range of development projects aimed at enhancing stability in key areas. Capacity building activities are also a key component of the program, with a focus on assessing capacity, identifying gaps, and preparing capacity building plans. The program has also developed capacity building materials and expertise, and is delivering training and other capacity building support to district entities. In addition to these components, the program also has a strong focus on monitoring and evaluation, with a range of activities aimed at tracking progress and results. The program also has a gender component, with activities aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women in key areas. Overall, the Stability in Key Areas (SIKA) South program is making significant progress in its first few months, with a range of achievements in stability analysis, access to GIRoA services, communication and outreach, and government services and development projects. The program's focus on capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, and gender equality is also noteworthy, and suggests that the program is well-positioned to make a lasting impact in key areas of Afghanistan.
