Abstract
Agency for International Development (USAID) operating unit GH/ID under Cooperative Agreement 7200AA19CA00013. The program aims to accelerate progress toward national and global TB targets through direct engagement with local governments and nongovernmental entities. TIFA has implemented a new co-design approach in the Philippines using a competitive process. This approach has been well-received, and other countries, including India, have expressed interest in adopting this model. The program has worked with seven national and state TB programs and nongovernmental entities to develop 15 TB commitment grants (TCGs). The program has also made significant progress in signing TCGs in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, and Malawi. Additionally, TIFA has resubmitted the revised Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan, which was approved. The plan includes background information on the current state of TIFA, revised TCG performance indicators, and additional sustainability indicators. TIFA has also updated the grants management database (GMD) milestone section to track progress and analyze trends in timeliness of milestone reviews and revisions. Furthermore, the program has reviewed and updated the TB Commitment Grant Toolkit and made minor adjustments to the sustainability checklist. The program has faced challenges due to COVID-19 infection rates, civil unrest in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and delays in the development and implementation of TCGs. However, TIFA is on track to sign TCGs in the Philippines, Uzbekistan, and Uzbekistan early in Quarter 3. The program will continue to work with National TB Programs and nongovernmental entities to develop TCG concepts. TIFA will host a webinar in August for USAID Missions that plan to use the TCG mechanism in the next three to six months. The program will also present the revised sustainability checklist to USAID Missions to promote its use and integration into the TCG co-design phase. The program has made significant progress in implementing the TIFA mechanism, and its efforts have been well-received by the TB community. The program's commitment to accelerating progress toward national and global TB targets is evident in its work with local governments and nongovernmental entities to develop TCGs. TIFA's quarterly review of the TCG Toolkit has also been completed, and the program has updated the grants management database (GMD) milestone section to track progress and analyze trends in timeliness of milestone reviews and revisions. The program's focus on sustainability has been a key aspect of its work, and the revised sustainability checklist has been updated to include management capacity elements. The program's efforts to develop TCGs have been successful, and its work with National TB Programs and nongovernmental entities has been well-received. The program's commitment to accelerating progress toward national and global TB targets is evident in its work with local governments and nongovernmental entities to develop TCGs.
