80 pages

Abstract
The manual is part of the Work Ready Now program, supported by the USAID Youth Advance Program in Liberia. The program aims to develop basic education and foundational skills of youth, strengthen employment skills for improved livelihoods, and create an enabling environment for improved youth productivity. The manual is divided into three sessions, each focusing on a specific aspect of finding and keeping work. Session 1 introduces civic engagement, which is defined as the act of participating in the decision-making process of one's community. Participants learn to identify and prioritize community needs, consult with stakeholders, and become civically engaged. The session includes activities such as Job Words, Connecting with My Community, and Prioritizing Needs. Session 2 focuses on mapping workplaces and searching for a job. Participants learn to approach workplaces, identify existing resources and opportunities, and find employment information. They also learn to write a job application letter and apply interviewing techniques in the workplace. The session includes activities such as Approaching Workplaces, Community Mapping, and Writing a Job Application Letter. Session 3 emphasizes proper workplace behaviors and attitudes. Participants learn to introduce themselves to possible employers, show correct workplace behavior and attitudes, manage time, and balance personal and work life. The session includes activities such as Workplace Behaviors and Attitudes, Time Management, and Balancing Work and Personal Life. The manual provides a detailed outline of the activities, including time allocations, materials, and preparation requirements. It also includes handouts, worksheets, and interactive audio instructions to support the training process. The program aims to equip youth with the necessary skills to find and maintain employment, thereby improving their livelihoods and contributing to the development of their communities. The program's objectives are to enable participants to explain civic engagement, consult with community stakeholders, identify existing resources and opportunities, and find and apply for job opportunities. Participants will also learn to write a job application letter, apply interviewing techniques, show correct workplace behavior and attitudes, manage time, and balance personal and work life. The manual provides a comprehensive framework for trainers to deliver the program, ensuring that participants acquire the necessary skills to find and keep work. The program's focus on civic engagement, workplace behaviors, and time management will equip youth with the skills to succeed in the workforce and contribute to the development of their communities.
