Abstract
higher education to black South Africans. The International Communications Agency, acting through private U.S. organizations, will provide scholarships to 100 participants who will pursue undergraduate and professional studies at U.S. colleges and universities in development sciences - including agriculture, business administration, engineering, economics, management, and physics - and will then return to South Africa. PP Supplement and Amendment of 5/87 authorizes long-term training and administrative support costs for student intake for the years 1988-92. (PD-BBP-459) Amendment of 3/89 authorizes short-term training inputs which had been planned for the 5/87 amendment, but not authorized, including (1) a general fund for the training needs of private community organizations and of organizations involved in other USAID/SA projects, and (2) support for the Career Development Program which provides individualized U.S. academic and practical training for black South Africans in mid-career positions.
