Abstract
The events aimed to enhance research capacity, entrepreneurship, and institutional sustainability in higher academia. A seminar on the impact of climate change on water resources in Sindh Province was held, focusing on the challenges and opportunities in the region. The seminar brought together experts from academia, industry, and government to discuss the implications of climate change on water resources and potential solutions. The International Workshop on Entrepreneurship, Technology, and Institutional Sustainability in Higher Academia was organized by MUET and the University of Utah, in collaboration with the Pakistan Science Foundation. The workshop aimed to facilitate the faculty from leading Pakistani universities, research entities, and industry in formulating the way forward about entrepreneurship, research, technology transfer, and venture commercialization. The event was inaugurated by Senator Nisar A. Memon, Chairman of the Pakistan Water Environment Forum, and featured key speakers from academia, industry, and government. A four-day boot camp for faculty was organized by MUET in collaboration with the University of Utah, focusing on research, effective teaching, and writing. The boot camp was led by highly academic and technical experts from the University of Utah, Colorado State University, and City University of New York, and aimed to enhance the learning and research capacity development of the faculty and students of USPCAS-W. The workshop on Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship was organized by MUET and the University of Utah, focusing on the commercialization of research and technology transfer. The workshop featured key speakers from academia, industry, and government, and aimed to facilitate the development of intellectual property policies, encourage faculty to submit disclosures, and execute the process for evaluating disclosures. The University of Utah team conducted a day-long extensive workshop for mentoring Masters and PhD students of USPCAS-W, delivering sessions on various topics, including irrigation and drainage efficiency, decision support for water resources planning and management, and water infrastructure systems. The workshop aimed to enhance the research skills and capacity of the students. The events hosted by USPCAS-W and its partners aimed to enhance research capacity, entrepreneurship, and institutional sustainability in higher academia, and to facilitate the development of intellectual property policies, encourage faculty to submit disclosures, and execute the process for evaluating disclosures. The events brought together experts from academia, industry, and government to discuss the implications of climate change on water resources, potential solutions, and the commercialization of research and technology transfer.
