Abstract
The project focuses on addressing the challenges of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and reproductive health in underserved areas, with a goal of increasing access to quality health services and promoting sustainable development. The project targets five regions in Tanzania, including Arusha, Dodoma, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, and Singida, with a focus on improving access to HIV/AIDS services, tuberculosis treatment, and reproductive health services. The project also aims to strengthen the capacity of local health systems and promote community-led initiatives to improve health outcomes. Key objectives of the project include improving access to quality health services, increasing the number of individuals living with HIV/AIDS who are on antiretroviral therapy (ART), and reducing the number of new HIV/AIDS infections. The project also aims to improve tuberculosis treatment outcomes, increase the use of modern family planning methods, and promote healthy behaviors among community members. To achieve these objectives, the project will implement a range of interventions, including training health workers, improving access to ART and tuberculosis treatment, and promoting community-led initiatives to improve health outcomes. The project will also work with local health authorities to strengthen their capacity to provide quality health services and promote sustainable development. The project will be implemented over a period of five years, from November 2021 to November 2026, with a budget of $91 million. The project will be implemented in collaboration with several local and international partners, including Amref Health Africa, D-tree International, EngenderHealth, and Matchboxology. The project's expected outcomes include a 90% increase in the number of individuals living with HIV/AIDS who are on ART, a 95% increase in the number of individuals living with HIV/AIDS who are on tuberculosis treatment, and a 40% increase in the number of individuals living with tuberculosis who are diagnosed and treated. The project also aims to increase the use of modern family planning methods and promote healthy behaviors among community members. Overall, the USAID Afya Yangu Kaskazini project aims to improve access to quality health services and promote sustainable development in Tanzania, with a focus on addressing the challenges of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and reproductive health in underserved areas.
