Sign inUSAID. MISSION TO EL SALVADOR
Grant is provided to CARE under the Peace and National Recovery Project to help the residents of ten Land Transfer Program (LTP) properties in eastern El Salvador to establish community associations, design community development plans, legalize individual land titles, and access services for basic infrastructure, credit, and TA (CONVIVIR project).
1995

Abstract
CARE and USAID/ES will select ten properties whose residents are willing to make a commitment to participate in the project, preferably from properties in Morazan, San Miguel, Usulutan, or San Vicente. A diversity of property sizes, location, land use, participant make-up, and infrastructure will be sought to provide a broad spectrum of experience. CARE will assist residents in electing and legalizing a Community Development Association (ADESCO) and community committees, and will facilitate meetings and assemblies to assist residents in establishing Community Development Plans. These Plans will include plans for productivity as well as the community"s need for basic infrastructure and its preferences and priorities as to use and distribution of land. Based on the Plans, the properties will be surveyed and mapped. CARE will then help property owners to secure individual titles (routine titling costs will be covered by the project). Finally, CARE will help the communities to make linkages with appropriate government, donor, or NGO agencies to gain access to basic infrastructure, health and education services, productive credit, and TA.
