Abstract
The project began on July 13, 2018, and is set to conclude on July 13, 2023. The project is funded by USAID's Food Security Program and is being implemented in partnership with various local and international organizations, including Caritas Kabale, Children of the World Foundation, and The Manoff Group. The project focuses on three main sub-purposes: increasing economic opportunities for poor households, improving nutrition of women and children, and strengthening community and local governance. To achieve these objectives, the project has implemented various interventions, including farmer training programs, infrastructure development, and market linkage facilitation. The project has made significant progress in improving the economic opportunities of poor households. In addition to its economic and nutrition objectives, the project has also made progress in strengthening community and local governance. The project has established partnerships with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Health. The project has also implemented institutional system strengthening activities, which have improved the capacity of local governments to deliver services to their communities. The project has also made significant progress in improving the nutrition of women and children. The project has implemented various nutrition interventions, including the establishment of farmer solution centers, which provide training and support to farmers on sustainable agriculture practices. The project has also implemented social behavior change activities, which have improved knowledge and attitudes towards nutrition among women and children. The project has also made progress in environmental compliance. The project has implemented environmental mitigation and monitoring plans, which have ensured that the project's activities do not harm the environment. The project has also implemented grants and environmental compliance activities, which have ensured that the project's activities are environmentally sustainable. Overall, the Agriculture and Nutrition Activity in Uganda has made significant progress in improving the economic opportunities, nutrition, and governance of poor households in the country.
