Abstract
The program is implemented by Abt Associates, in partnership with several organizations, including the International Rescue Committee, Pathfinder International, and BlueSquare. Implementation of the program began in 2018, with a focus on enhancing the capacity of provincial, health zone, and facility levels to plan, implement, and monitor health services. The program also aims to improve transparency and oversight in health service financing and administration, as well as strengthen the capacity of community service organizations and community structures to provide health system oversight. The program is divided into three objectives, each with several indicators. Objective 1 focuses on enhancing the capacity of the health system, including improving disease surveillance and strategic information gathering and use, as well as increasing the availability of essential commodities. Objective 2 aims to increase the availability of quality, integrated facility-based and community-based health services, including improving referral systems and strengthening collaboration between central and decentralized levels. Objective 3 focuses on promoting healthy behaviors and reducing socio-cultural barriers to healthcare services. This includes increasing the practice of priority healthy behaviors, increasing the use of facility- and community-based health services, and reducing barriers to healthcare access. The program has made significant progress in its first year, with notable achievements in malaria control, maternal and child health, nutrition, reproductive health and family planning, tuberculosis, and water, sanitation, and hygiene. The program has also established partnerships with local organizations and community structures to improve health outcomes and increase access to healthcare services. In terms of implementation, the program has established a robust management structure, with a team of experienced staff and a clear plan for program implementation. The program has also established a system for monitoring and evaluation, which includes regular reporting and data analysis. The program has also made significant progress in its partnerships, with a strong focus on collaboration with local organizations and community structures.
