Abstract
The activity's goal is to enhance leadership and accountability for results in the public and private sector and across all levels of the health system. Additionally, the UHSS Activity seeks to improve the availability, efficient use, and management of key health systems resources and strengthen community health systems critical for improved quality care health services. The activity is led by Palladium International, LLC, with a prime implementing partner, and is supported by several sub-awardees, including the Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG), the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI), and KPMG. Major counterpart organizations involved in the activity include the Uganda Ministry of Health (MoH), the Ministry of Local Government (MoLG), the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), and the Health Service Commission (HSC). Implementation of the UHSS Activity is focused on several key areas, including leadership and accountability, health systems resource management, and community health systems strengthening. The activity aims to improve the performance of the health system through technical assistance, with a focus on enhancing the capacity of health workers, improving the availability and use of health information, and strengthening the management of health resources. The activity has made significant progress in its first four years, with notable achievements in improving leadership and accountability, enhancing health systems resource management, and strengthening community health systems. Key indicators of progress include improvements in health worker capacity, increased availability and use of health information, and enhanced management of health resources. One of the key achievements of the UHSS Activity is the improvement in leadership and accountability within the health system. The activity has worked with health leaders to enhance their capacity to manage and lead health programs, resulting in improved health outcomes and increased accountability for results. Additionally, the activity has supported the development of a robust health information system, which has improved the availability and use of health data. The UHSS Activity has also made significant progress in strengthening community health systems. The activity has worked with community health workers to enhance their capacity to provide quality care health services, resulting in improved health outcomes and increased access to health services. Additionally, the activity has supported the development of a robust community health information system, which has improved the availability and use of health data at the community level. In terms of health systems resource management, the UHSS Activity has made significant progress in improving the availability and use of health resources. The activity has worked with health managers to enhance their capacity to manage and allocate health resources, resulting in improved health outcomes and increased efficiency in the use of health resources. Additionally, the activity has supported the development of a robust health resource management system, which has improved the availability and use of health resources. The UHSS Activity has also made significant progress in improving the performance of the health system through technical assistance. The activity has provided technical assistance to health workers, health managers, and health leaders to enhance their capacity to manage and lead health programs. Additionally, the activity has supported the development of a robust technical assistance system, which has improved the availability and use of technical assistance.
