Abstract
The overall objective of the activity is to support the Government of Jordan in improving water and wastewater service delivery. This involves engineering assessments, studies, designs, and construction management services to the water and wastewater sector. The activity is carried out in close coordination with the Government of Jordan, specifically the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, and other entities such as the Water Authority of Jordan and Jordan Valley Authority. The activity is guided by the U.S. Global Water Strategy, which aims to increase sustainable access to safe drinking water and sanitation services, encourage sound management and protection of freshwater resources, promote cooperation on shared waters, and strengthen water-sector governance, financing, and institutions. The strategy has four interconnected strategic objectives, including increasing sustainable access to safe drinking water and sanitation services, encouraging sound management and protection of freshwater resources, promoting cooperation on shared waters, and strengthening water-sector governance, financing, and institutions. The activity is divided into four tasks, each with a specific objective. Task 1 involves construction management services for the Amman Water System Improvement Project. Task 2 focuses on construction management services for the Tafilah Wastewater Treatment Plant. Task 3 involves construction management services for the Dair Alla Water and Wastewater Systems. Task 4 involves a feasibility study and design for the Bal'ma and Al Hashmia Wastewater Collection Network. The activity is expected to contribute to the achievement of the Development Objective DO2, which aims to strengthen Jordan's ability to improve its water security. The activity will be carried out in close coordination with the Government of Jordan and other stakeholders, and will involve the provision of engineering services, including assessments, studies, designs, and construction management. The activity will be implemented over a period of five years, from 2020 to 2025. The implementation will be carried out in accordance with the Contract and the terms of reference, and will involve the provision of engineering services to support the Government of Jordan in improving water and wastewater service delivery. The activity will be monitored and evaluated regularly to ensure that it is meeting its objectives and making progress towards achieving the Development Objective DO2. The activity will also contribute to the achievement of the Intermediate Results (IR2), which aim to improve water and wastewater service delivery in Jordan.
