FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
The World Directory of Plant Pathologists is a comprehensive compilation of plant pathologists from around the world.
144 pages

Abstract
The directory was edited by Fran E. Fisher and published under the auspices of the University of Florida Agricultural Research and Education Center. The compilation was supported in part by the UC/AID Project CSD-3296, Pest Management and Related Environmental Protection. The directory is organized geographically and alphabetically, first by continent, then by country or area. Islands have been placed with the nearest continent, as continents are defined in The Hammond World Atlas. This method of continental division is used because nature recognizes no man-made boundaries, and the examples of disease movement across continents are well known to pathologists. The directory lists almost 11,000 plant pathologists from 125 countries or areas, with the majority of them working in organized societies. The lists were used as the basis for compilation, and some of the lists included workers in other fields such as entomology and horticulture. The names of these individuals were usually deleted either by the society or the editor. The directory provides information on the number of pathologists, where they are, and what their work is. It also includes information on the national societies and the pathologists listed together under their country or area for convenience. The fact that the pathologists' names follow that of their societies does not necessarily mean that they are members of that particular society. The directory was compiled with the sincere hope that it will help to improve personal and professional connections as well as communications among fellow plant pathologists throughout the world. The editor is indebted to all of the participating societies, international and regional societies, and individuals who helped in the compilation and preparation of this directory. The directory includes a list of international and regional societies, including the International Society for Plant Pathology, the International Organization of Citrus Virologists, and the International Union of Forest Research Organizations. These societies have official journals and newsletters that provide a platform for communication among plant pathologists. The directory also includes a list of plant pathologists from Africa, including Madagascar, Mauritius, and Reunion Islands. The list includes individuals from Algeria, Angola, and other countries, with information on their areas of expertise and research interests. The directory is a valuable resource for plant pathologists, researchers, and administrators who need to communicate with colleagues and experts in the field. It provides a comprehensive and up-to-date list of plant pathologists from around the world, making it an essential tool for anyone working in the field of plant pathology.
