Abstract
The majority of the research works met the requirements for certification as defined in the corresponding regulation. However, some participants needed to complete certain aspects, while others required substantial improvement in terms of content and structure. A few works did not meet the minimum standard for research and lacked bibliographic citations. Others resembled essays, which, while providing analysis of a topic, did not qualify as research. The evaluation also considered which works could be published and indicated this in the right-hand column of the table. Recommendations were made for publication, but these were mostly formal. In all cases, works suitable for publication required a thorough review of their content, treatment, writing, and form. The criteria for selection for publication did not discriminate in terms of topics, variety, or repetition, but rather determined the quality of the content, treatment, writing, and form independently. Therefore, this stage should be considered a pre-selection. For a final selection, other factors such as the distribution of topics and geographic distribution would need to be taken into account. Some of the recommended topics for publication included sociology of women, democracy, and participation; ethnic groups and political participation; childhood and adolescence and citizen rights; exclusion and poverty and political participation; legal protection in electoral matters; political participation in internal armed conflicts (the case of Colombia); political participation and abstention; and groups discriminated against sexually and citizen participation. The evaluation of the works and their respective recommendations is presented in a table. The table includes the country, name, theme, result, and certification status for each work. For example, the work "La problemática del ejercicio pleno de la ciudadanía en situaciones de marginación, desempleo y pobreza" by Liliana Giorgis from Argentina was considered a solid research work with a good management of valuable sources, but it required some improvement in terms of structure and content. The work "El Monopolio de los Partidos Políticos y los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas de Bolivia" by José Alvarez from Bolivia was considered an excellent research work with a good methodology and analysis, but it lacked bibliographic citations and a deeper analysis of jurisprudence. In general, the evaluation of the academic works submitted for the XIX Curso Interdisciplinario de Derechos Humanos del IIDH highlighted the importance of considering the quality of the content, treatment, writing, and form in the selection process for publication. The recommended topics for publication included a range of themes related to human rights and democracy, and the evaluation highlighted the need for further improvement in terms of structure, content, and bibliographic citations in some of the works.
