Abstract
The program aimed to strengthen global support for private sector family planning/reproductive health (FP/RH) approaches, products, and services. In collaboration with Banyan Global, Jhpiego, Marie Stopes International, Monitor Group, and O'Hanlon Health Consulting, the program achieved significant results in three core areas: Population, HIV/AIDS, and Maternal and Child Health. In the Population Core, the program strengthened global support for private sector FP/RH approaches, products, and services. Result 1 focused on advancing knowledge about and understanding of private sector provision of FP/RH and other health information, products, and services. This was achieved through the development of a comprehensive knowledge management system, which provided access to best practices, research, and technical resources. Result 2 involved strengthening key private health sector systems and implementing innovative private sector FP/RH and other health programs. This included the establishment of a private sector FP/RH market segmentation framework, which helped to identify and prioritize high-potential markets for FP/RH products and services. In the HIV/AIDS Core, the program aimed to strengthen global-level and national-level support for private sector HIV/AIDS approaches and tools. Result 1 focused on advancing knowledge about and understanding of private sector provision of HIV/AIDS information, products, and services. This was achieved through the development of a comprehensive HIV/AIDS knowledge management system, which provided access to best practices, research, and technical resources. Result 2 involved strengthening health sector systems and implementing innovative private sector HIV/AIDS programs. This included the establishment of a private sector HIV/AIDS market segmentation framework, which helped to identify and prioritize high-potential markets for HIV/AIDS products and services. In the Maternal and Child Health Core, the program aimed to strengthen global support for private sector MCH approaches, products, and services. Result 1 focused on advancing knowledge about and understanding of private sector provision of MCH information, products, and services. This was achieved through the development of a comprehensive MCH knowledge management system, which provided access to best practices, research, and technical resources. Result 2 involved strengthening key private health sector systems and implementing innovative private sector MCH programs. This included the establishment of a private sector MCH market segmentation framework, which helped to identify and prioritize high-potential markets for MCH products and services. The program also provided field support to various countries, including Africa Regional Bureau, Bangladesh, Eastern Caribbean, Europe and Eurasia Bureau, Jordan, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Paraguay, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The program's activities in these countries focused on strengthening private sector health systems, implementing innovative health programs, and advancing knowledge about and understanding of private sector provision of health information, products, and services.
