The Global Health/Population and Reproductive Health/Service Delivery Improvement program, led by Marguerite Farrell, AOTR, at the United States Agency for International Development, collaborated with several organizations, including Banyan Global, Jhpiego, Marie Stopes International, Monitor Group, and O'Hanlon Health Consulting, to implement a cooperative agreement from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011.

Abstract
The program focused on strengthening global support for private sector family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) approaches, products, and services. Result 1: Strengthened Global Support for SOTA Private Sector FP/RH Approaches, Products, and Services, aimed to establish global partnerships, enhance policy dialogue between public and private sectors, and promote a supportive policy environment. Sub Result 1.1, Global partnerships established, involved collaborations with various organizations, including the African Health Economic Association (AfHEA) and the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES). Sub Result 1.2, Policy dialogue enhanced between public and private sectors, included the development of a private sector assessment (PSA) and the establishment of a public-private dialogue (PPD) mechanism. Sub Result 1.3, Supportive policy environment promoted, focused on creating an enabling environment for private sector FP/RH service delivery. Result 2: Knowledge about and Understanding of Private Sector Provision of FP/RH and Other Health Information, Products and Services Advanced, aimed to identify key topics related to the private health sector, compile and disseminate global data, and conduct effective monitoring and evaluation. Sub Result 2.2, Key topics related to the private health sector identified and global data compiled, analyzed, and disseminated, involved the development of a knowledge management system and the dissemination of research findings through various channels. Sub Result 2.3, Effective monitoring and evaluation conducted to support accomplishment of project goals, included the establishment of a performance monitoring plan (PMP) and the conduct of regular project evaluations. Result 3: Key Private Health Sector Systems Strengthened and Innovative Private Sector FP/RH and Other Health Programs Implemented and Scaled Up, aimed to strengthen private health sector systems, implement and scale up innovative private sector FP/RH programs, and develop effective private sector behavior change, communications, and marketing strategies. Sub Result 3.1, Effective private health sector service delivery and distribution models strengthened, demonstrated, and/or scaled up, involved the development of a client-centered market segmentation (CCMS) approach and the implementation of a commercial marketing strategies project (CMS). Sub Result 3.2, Targeted private sector behavior change, communications, and marketing strategies to increase access to and use of FP/RH, included the development of a behavior change communication (BCC) strategy and the implementation of a family wellness (FW) program. Sub Result 3.3, Strategies to improve market segmentation, viability, and sustainability, focused on developing a market development approaches working group (MDAWG) and implementing a managed care and family wellness (MCFW) program. The program also focused on HIV/AIDS, child health, and field support in various countries, including the Caribbean, Kenya, Madagascar, Namibia, Nigeria, Paraguay, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The program's geographic focus and context involved collaborations with various organizations and governments to strengthen private sector health systems and implement innovative health programs.
