Grant is provided under the PVO Humanitarian/Development Initiatives project (1800032) to support a 2-year program by Operation Smile International (OSI) to provide reconstructive surgery and related health care to deformed and disfigured children in Romanian institutions.

Abstract
Each year, a 25-member medical/educational mission will travel to Romania to perform surgery -- on 75-100 children the first year and 150 the second -- and provide hands-on training and education for Romanian physicians, surgeons, and other medical professionals. A resident physical therapy component will be established to address the problem of contractures.
