Abstract
ADRA"s general strategy is to concentrate on training and supporting local health post staff and community-based health workers, and integrating with existing local health infrastructure, rather than directly providing the interventions. Key interventions in Malawi will include immunizations, oral rehydration therapy (ORT), birth spacing, nutrition/growth monitoring (including gardening education), and malaria suppression. In Nepal, key interventions will include immunizations, ORT, growth monitoring and identification of high- risk children, improved infant/child feeding practices, reduction of high-risk births, and maternal health; the urban area of Banepa will receive special attention. In Pakistan, ADRA will expand an existing CS project in the Sind Province, Karachi East District. Key interventions will include immunizations for children under one, ORT and hygiene education, nutrition education and breastfeeding promotion, antenatal care, and birth spacing and family planning.
