Abstract
The project, entitled Child Survival -- Plus Two (CS-P2), will make use of community-based channels of service delivery established under Lombok"s Model Immunization Program. It will target newborns and pregnant and postpartum women, and will emphasize antenatal care/high risk births, immunization, acute respiratory infections, and nutrition. Three new technologies will be introduced: prefilled injection devices (SafeTject); low-cost scales for identifying low-birthweight newborns (BIRTHweigh); and simple, low-cost strips to identify pregnant women at risk of pre-eclampsia (PATHstrips). PATH will co-manage the project with the Ministry of Health (MOH), providing the MOH with technical, managerial, and administrative assistance for all aspects of the project.
