Abstract
(SCF) to (1) support child survival (CS) activities in Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Indonesia, Malawi, and Sudan, and (2) develop a health information system, capable of tracking SCF performance under the grant. SCF"s interventions include control of diarrheal diseases and oral rehydration therapy, immunizations, growth monitoring and nutrition promotion/education, Vitamin A supplementation, acute respiratory infections, child spacing, and, where appropriate, malaria treatment, STD education, and other area-specific health interventions. In addition to training health coordinators, trainers, volunteers, traditional birth attendants, etc., in CS health interventions, SCF will provide training and support related to the development of health information and/or management information systems in the target areas. The grant will support SCF"s CS program in Bolivia"s Inquisivi Province, with a target population of 31,356; its CS program in Burkina Faso"s Seno Province, with a target population of 85,000; expansion of its CS program in West Jakarta into two additional areas, Duri Selatan and Jelambar; its CS program in Malawi"s Mbalachanda and Mkhota areas, with a target population of 70,000; and expansion of its CS program in Sudan to 37 additional villages in Wad Hileiyu.
