Abstract
HOPE will conduct: (1) three technical seminars on local empowerment for housing and community development for a total of at least 375 representatives of informal or squatter settlements on such subjects as recent housing development and low-cost housing, (2) two 3-day intensive residential workshops to train a total of at least 100 community leaders (who will in turn instruct their communities) in the Hope Housing Handbook, a resource manual offering practical solutions to problems faced by squatter and informal settlements; and (3) field investigations to identify and resolve conflicts confronting 10 of the 33 informal or squatter settlements affiliated with the HOPE program.
