AID grant no. 660-0421-G-00-1421-00 to the United Nations Children"s Fund (UNICEF) to reinforce the existing child survival and health program in Zaire

Under the grant, UNICEF will: (1) purchase vaccines for the 1992 immunization campaign and vaccinate 60% of children under 12 months of age (960,000 children); (2) purchase vaccination materials and cold chain equipment needed by health institutions throughout Zaire during 1992 and 1993; (3) ensure the rapid and safe delivery of commodities to health centers and hospitals via health zone offices; and (4) reinforce existing training programs that enable health care workers and EPI personnel to administer effectively a nationwide child survival program.
